we have however taken all measures to

combat the little blighter.

finally the 1st stop of Wingfields for early shows now out of bags

with thrip traps in line above them as early indication well just incase!

23rd August

This shot is loking east down the garden

No.1 house is in the foregroundno need for extra shading as

this house is for Intermediates & incurves

House no.2 behind has extra shading to assist in reduction of heat build up

that with the fans helps to retain the colour in the reflex house

Fans installed into House No.2 total of 4 to give best coverage

to the blooms these fans are served with a generator and due to our location

the generator is removed each night and taken home blooms coming on well and should be ready for around National time

1st August

Time to check and re bag Yellow Clapham Delight

Hammer to knock the canes down to allow the bag to be put on

Bud ready for bag

bag place carefully over the bud and gathered together at the base rubber tube inserted intop the bag and bag fully inflated

bag held and the tube removed

first tie secured at the bottom of the wrap

1st tie on then gather the bag              Bag secured with the 2 ties

by nipping it up and then a

second tie put on the bag

Finally ears turned at either side

and marked with the date that

the bud showed first colour this

will give us an approx time when

bloom will be ready to show

in this case it will be ready for

                                          shows around 10th September

15th August

today was spent on various jobs

but mainly on removale and fitting final bags

Primrose Chessington some were ready to bag up

others were in need of sraightening the ones that needed cocked buds rectified

were splinted and a large bag put over them ready to bag tomorrow

The singles were reduced down to approx 15 breaks the next step will be a final top dress in the pots at the same time as the Millars  and then finally they will be taken down to 6 or 7 stems for final growth for shows

We have been having a real up and down weather pattern

with no 2 days the same and some days we are getting ups and downs

however the growth of the flowers seems to be canny,

but until the flowers are there then its just a waiting game

more updates to follow shortly in the next few days as we are removing

the bud bags from House No 2 , the National stop Wingfields

incidentaly we noticed first signs of the dreaded WFT so they were sprayed straight away with Decis on the flower they were found on Dynasty so its check check check

19thAugust

A few pictures of House No 2 which should give us a decent choice of

Wingfield and sports for around National time we will beputting shading on the top of this house and if needed we will cover with muslin to protect against damping etc

this trench is now covered as inside are the Dorridge Crystal, 3 New releases

and 3 plants of John Wingfield
